French Tutor: TCF Canada & TEF Canada Exam Prep

ImChatty is a language-learning platform. Learners practise with AI conversation partners and guided scenarios (text and audio), then book real human tutors when they're ready. We also run dedicated TCF and TEF exam-prep paths.

Many of our French learners have one high-stakes goal: reaching the NCLC level they need on TCF Canada or TEF Canada for Express Entry, Quebec immigration or citizenship. AI practice gets them a long way, but they're asking for a skilled human who can hear why their speaking stalls and coach them through timed tasks until those tasks feel natural.

What you'll do

Run 1-on-1 sessions focused on TCF Canada and TEF Canada preparation, especially the speaking and writing tasks, plus general conversation practice.
Run realistic mock speaking tasks and give clear feedback on vocabulary, grammar, structure, pronunciation and register.
Help learners understand the exam format, timing and what examiners reward.
Set your own availability and per-session rate, and manage your own bookings.
Keep brief notes on recurring students so each session builds on the last.
Optionally use the AI assist panel during sessions (level detection, prompts, suggested corrections). It's a support tool you can switch off.

What we're looking for

No teaching degree is required. FLE or exam-prep experience is a real advantage, but proven proficiency and the ability to coach conversationally matter more to us than a diploma.

Native or near-native French (around CEFR C2), demonstrated during certification.
Familiarity with TCF Canada and/or TEF Canada: format, task types and the NCLC scale. Experience preparing candidates, or having taken the exam yourself, is a strong plus.
Comfort adapting your French to a learner's level; familiarity with Canadian French and Québec usage is ideal.
Reliable internet, a quiet space and a headset with a working mic.
Professionalism: on time for confirmed bookings, tutoring from a permanent account.

How certification works

Before learners can see your profile, you complete two steps on the platform:

A CEFR placement test in French, where you need to score C2.
A C2-level certification conversation, AI-scored on vocabulary, grammar and flow.

After certification

A member of our team reviews your profile before your certified badge goes live. The process is free, online and done at your own pace. Certification reflects our assessment of your language proficiency; it doesn't guarantee bookings or income.

Pay and payments

You set your own per-session rate and keep 80% of each session fee after payment-processing fees.
Payments are live: once certified, you connect Stripe or PayPal and booking turns on for your profile.
Your share of each completed session is paid out automatically 48 hours after it ends, with no invoicing.
You work as an independent contractor. You handle your own taxes, you're free to tutor elsewhere, and you never have to accept a booking.
Cancellations more than 24 hours ahead are free for either side. If you miss a confirmed session, the learner is fully refunded.
